Mindful Monkey Kids Privacy Policy

Mindful Monkey Kids (“the app”) is made by KSJ INC. (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what information the app and this website use, why, and the choices families have. We wrote it to be easy to read.

The short version

A parent or guardian creates the account. Children don't sign up and don't enter an email.
Most of what a child does in the app stays on the device.
If the parent turns on the daily email, a short summary of the child's day is saved to our server so we can email it to the parent.
We don't show ads, use advertising or analytics tracking, or sell or share personal information.

Information a parent gives us

When a parent creates an account, we collect:

the parent's name and email address
a password, which is stored securely by our account provider and is never visible to us
the child's first name (so Berry can greet them, and for the daily email)
whether the parent wants the daily activity email, and the device's time zone (so the email arrives in the evening)

Information about the child's activity

Stored only on the device: the child's goals, progress on the path, bananas, jewels, quests, shop items, streaks, the feelings calendar, and settings. This stays on the phone or tablet.

Saved to our server (only when a parent account is signed in): a summary of each day for the daily email: the mood check-in, the feelings the child picked, which activities they finished, and which goals they checked off. We don't save anything the child types, and the app never uses the microphone, camera, location, or contacts.

The website waitlist

If you join the waitlist on this website, we save the email address you enter and the date. We use it only to tell you when Mindful Monkey Kids is available and to share occasional Mindful Monkey Kids news. To be removed, email us at the address below. The waitlist is meant for parents and other adults.

How we use information

to run the parent account and let the parent sign in
to send the daily activity email, if the parent turned it on
to answer messages the parent sends us
to email waitlist members about the app's launch

We don't use children's information for advertising, profiling, or anything unrelated to the app.

Reminders

Goal reminders are scheduled on the device by the app. They aren't sent from our server.

Service providers

We use a few trusted companies to run the service, and they may only use the information to provide their service to us:

Supabase: stores parent accounts, the daily summaries and the website waitlist (United States)
Resend: delivers the daily email

Berry's voice is pre-recorded and built into the app. No child data is sent to any voice service.

Keeping information

We keep the parent account and daily summaries while the account is open. Daily summaries are deleted after 30 days. When an account is deleted, its information is deleted from our server within 30 days.

Parents' choices and rights

A parent can at any time:

turn the daily email off: in the app, open Berry's page and switch off “Daily activity email”
review the information we hold about their child
delete the account and all of their child's saved information, right in the app (Berry's page > Delete parent account), or by asking us
stop further collection by signing out, or by deleting the app

Children's privacy

The app is meant to be used by children with a parent's permission. We only collect a child's information after a parent creates an account and agrees to this policy. If we learn we have collected a child's information without a parent's permission, we will delete it.

Security

Information sent between the app and our server is encrypted in transit. Each family's records can only be read by that family's signed-in parent account.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date above. If the changes are significant, we'll let parents know by email or in the app.
